Shiva is also regarded as the patron God of Yoga, Meditation and arts. This temple being dedicated to Lord Shiva celebrates the festival of Mahashivratri with great pomp and festivity. The festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated during the night by keeping a “jaagaran” – a night long vigil with worship, unlike most Hindu festivals which are celebrated during the day. In these modern times, the use of trawlers that run on fuel, have made travelling through the sea a less cumbersome task for the fishermen and certain locals who wish to accompany them on a few occasions.(Click here to read more about Patnem beach).
